This photo was taken after my family and I got back from our
Christmas Eve service at church this past Christmas. My sister Emory is on the
left; she is fourteen years old and a freshman in high school, and she is about
three inches taller than me that she never lets me forget (and already changed
into her Christmas pajamas). My brother, Brent, is twenty-eight and is
currently serving in the Army. I chose this photo to be my profile picture
because it’s not very often that we are all together so when we are it is very
important to all of us. We are all in really different places and stages in our
lives so its nice to have pictures to be able to go back to. My brother who is
about nine years older than me has lived in California for about the past six
years so I used to only see him a few times a year but not he is stationed in
North Carolina so we actually get to see him more. He is about to be diploid,
so it could be about a year before we get to see him again. It has sort of
become a tradition that every year around Christmas time we always take a
picture in front of the fireplace. So we have a lot of the same looking
pictures, but it is fun to look back and see how much we have changed over the
years. Even though this “family tradition” is really simple, it has come to
mean a lot to us and as we grow up we have come to realize how important it is
when we get to spend time together. My profile pictures are normally not just
of me, they are usually with my family or with some of my close friends.

Cate Marr Profile Pic
This is my current profile picture that I just uploaded last night. It is probably one of my favorite pictures for a couple reasons. The boy next to me is my boyfriend and we have been dating for a year and a half. We had been planning for a while to go hiking on the Table Rock trail. Every weekend it's either bad weather or we are too busy. Finally yesterday we got to go! This picture is us at the top. I think it captures us really well. I am not a very outdoorsy girl and my boyfriend always makes fun of me for it. I almost gave up a few times on the way because it was not an easy hike up. My boyfriend kept motivating me by saying I was going to get the perfect picture once we get to the top because he knows how much I love taking pictures. This one just makes me smile because at that moment we were so happy about finally getting to the top. It was so beautiful and breathtaking. The mountains we overlooked were unbelievable and the scenery was incredible. You can see we are standing on Table Rock and behind us are the rolling hills that overlook the Carolinas. This picture describes us so well. We love South Carolina more than anything and being on top seeing it all was amazing for us. We are both very casual and we have a laid-back relationship. You can just tell in the picture we are carefree and happy to be together in that moment. He has been a diehard Clemson fan his whole life and he is wearing his favorite Clemson hat I gave him. I am wearing my favorite sorority T-shirt because I am proud to be a Kappa Kappa Gamma. This picture just shows how great our relationship is because we have a lot of fun together and take risks. We look a lot of pictures up on the top of Table Rock but this is the one I chose for my profile picture. I chose it because all in all it represents that moment perfectly and us as a couple and best friends.
Profile Picture - Logan Smith
My current profile picture is one of my senior pictures I
had taken for high school, and it’s definitely my favorite picture I have ever
taken. The photo itself is black and white (total hipster move), I’m not
looking at the camera (total hipster move), I’m playing guitar (total hipster move) and there is sheet
music scattered around my feet while I’m sitting on a bridge overlooking the
Augusta Canal (total hipster move for us Augustans). Honestly, I feel
incredibly cool and hipster when someone looks at my profile for the first time
and that’s what they see. Not only do they see that I play guitar, but the
picture itself was photographed by someone super talented, and honestly super
talented photographers are always cool and I think it’s cool if I’m associated
with one by means of my profile picture. And if I’m being totally honest, when
I friended the FCA worship leader on Facebook after meeting him, I made sure
that this was my profile picture solely to seem artsy and hip and talented. I’m
also wearing jorts, a v-neck, a scarf and Toms. Swap the jorts for some jeans
and that was my staple outfit in high school, so it was totally appropriate to
wear the outfit that described quintessential Logan. In high school, guitar and
Toms were two big parts of what made me, me. I was in a band for a little while
and hardcore buckled down in learning how to play, and to play well over the
course of high school, and I was the Toms Campus Club Leader for my high school
and was seriously the initial consultant among my friends when they began to
purchase the shoes. Toms also meant a ton to me because a ministry that I was
heavily involved in with my church highlighted giving shoes to little kids, and
I got to go to Nicaragua twice to do so, seriously letting me empathize with
the Toms campaign. Ultimately, this picture is an awesome representation of not
only me, but a lot of things that I was involved in over the course of high
school.
Emily Griffin Profile Picture
My profile picture is a picture of my boyfriend and I from when I was home over October break. The picture was taken on the last night I was home before going out to dinner. In the picture I am on his back and he is holding me in a sort of piggy-back fashion. We are both in warm clothes so it can be inferred that it was cold outside. Also, in the background there is a painting on the wall and fire place mantle underneath it, so people looking at the picture know it was taken somewhere inside. In addition, viewers may wonder who is taking the picture, but our carefree appearance displays that the photographer is someone close to us. At first glance of the picture it is not clear who the guy is. I am holding him tight, so it is clear that he is someone I care about. However, after taking a closer look people will see that the same guy I am in a relationship with on Facebook is also tagged in the picture. Once it is established that the picture is of my boyfriend and I, an appeal to pathos is established. The picture may create an emotional connection to a viewer which causes them to think about a loved one in their own life. In the picture we are both smiling, which displays how happy we are. Someone looking at this picture may also feel a sense of happiness towards their significant other. In addition, including my boyfriend in my profile picture exhibits that he is important to me and that I am not afraid to show him off to others. The message behind the picture is that I am a type of person who cares about their relationships and enjoys other peoples company.
Townsend Huguley Profile Picture
My Facebook profile
picture is a photograph that was taken over the long weekend we recently had.
On Saturday of the weekend, some friends and I, along with lots of others
involved in the Young Life community, ventured up to Carolina Point. Carolina
Point is a Young Life camp in Brevard, NC, which is in the process of being
built. We traveled to Carolina Point to pray over the different areas of the
camp, as well as the campers and staff that would be there for the first
official session this summer. The location of this photo is significant because
Young Life has recently become a significant part of my life. I am currently
going through a program called Quest through Clemson, which trains students to
become Young Life leaders. The girl in the picture with me is my friend, Mary
Margaret, who is a Wyldlife leader. Mary Margaret and I were friends in high
school, but our friendship was not as strong when she left to begin college at
Clemson last fall. When I came to Clemson this fall, Mary Margaret and I began
to strengthen our friendship become great friends, once again! Because Mary
Margaret is in my profile picture, it shows that she holds a special place in
my life. You can see how these two aspects of my life affect me, simply by the
joy on my face and my body language in the photo. I have a big smile on my face
and am giving Mary Margaret a hug! I think the “message” sent to my friends
through this photo is simply the unexplainable and unceasing joy I constantly
find in my life through relationships, such as my friendship with Mary
Margaret, through things I am involved in, like Young Life, and simply enjoying
my time at Clemson University!

Reena: Photo Booth
My
Facebook profile picture is just a simple headshot I took in my bedroom about a
year ago, so it’s not the latest picture. I took the picture with my built-in
camera, through Photo Booth, an app feature on Apple computers. I use Photo
Booth for my own, personal entertainment. Photo Booth is where I like to
express myself, especially when I’m bored. A very small percentage of the
pictures I take with Photo Booth are shared with the world, or social networks.
Besides, a lot of the photos are a bit embarrassing. I think the thing that
stands out the most in my picture is my smile, honestly speaking. The reason
being is because it's the brightest thing in the picture compared to my plain background and my simple, gray tank
top. My walls in the background of the picture seem to be a grayish, dull
color, but they’re actually blue. When I took the picture it came out kind of
dark, so I used another app on my laptop, called iPhoto, to brighten the place
up a bit and for some reason it changed the color of my wall. I find it ironic
because I tried to brighten my picture, which I did, but it ended up dulling my
walls. The main reason I took the pic was to get a shot of my hair. The caption
reads, “WebCam....This
was the best iever did my hair & i've been doing it since 6th
grade.haha.yayy(:” I wanted to point out that after about six years of doing my
hair myself, that was the best my hair has ever turned out. I wanted to show my
improvement. I’m not sure if my Facebook friends paid any mind to the caption,
but a few of them seemed to like my picture as a whole. My profile picture got 17 likes and 3
comments. Not bad for a Photo Booth shot.

Although this is not my current profile picture, I chose to use it because I felt like I could talk about more about this picture than the one I had currently selected as mine. This picture was taken last summer while I was on a leadership trip in Israel and is taken atop Mt. Nebo which is the mountain where God told Moses he could see the Promise Land (Israel) that he would never be able to enter because of his unfaithfulness. Now with one look, no one would automatically be able to identify that place as Mt. Nebo which I think is kind of special because it is a place that many people in the States have never seen or will get the chance to visit. By looking the attire that I am wearing (i.e. sunglasses, hat, backpack, name tag, etc) somebody could deduct that I was traveling. Traveling is one of my most favorite things to do so somebody would be able to learn that I enjoy traveling. The next key feature in this picture is the Tiger Rag that I and my buddy are holding. Many people relate the tiger paw back to Clemson and for everyone who knows me, they know that I am a huge Clemson. This act of carrying my Tiger Rag with me to places I travel has become sort of a tradition for me because I love supporting my Tigers regardless of where I am. To someone who doesn't know me or couldn't see the picture's caption: "Taking the Tigers to the Promised Land," they may not have a clue about why this picture was my profile picture. However the message is simple. This picture represents the great time that was had traveling and studying in Israel and also my love for Clemson.
